JUNE 21, 2020 – Maybe I should wait just 9 more days to post so I will have 30 days between posts this time. Naaah!!
It’s my blog and I’ll post if I want to. I’ll post WHEN I want to as well.
My attention has been on promoting my podcast as well as new material for the podcast. Heck, if the promotion is going to work, I need material to keep people interested. I have done some house cleaning … after the discovery of the podcast with the same name that was created shortly after mine, I decided to take the high road and keep my podcast name. I added “THE ORIGINAL” to it and began working on a brighter and sassier logo.

So, seen above on the left is the first one…on the right is the latest. I’ve “adopted” a purple color scheme and kinda ran with it. What do ya think?? I also have a facebook page and finally I moved to a separate instagram account as well. I was using my personal account but decided for promotional purposes, it was better this way. I have been working on some “swag” for the podcast and will probably use instagram and facebook to generate some sort of give away. I have stickers ready and t-shirts are in th works.
I wanna take a moment and share with you the backstory of the last episode, S1|E6 – POLICE, CULT & COVID BASTARD. I was trying hard NOT to get caught up in all the current culture hype. I had heard all the stories and yes, I even did search on some of the stuff. I just hate giving attention to the attention mongers of society. Ya know who I am talking about. Those who do stupid stuff just to get attention. Like “come in like a wrecking ball”….kinda shit. I refuse to mention names when stunts are pulled to get our feathers in a fluff. Why? Because negative publicity is FREE publicity. Negative publicity spreads their name faster than any positive publicity.
So, I sat down that day and thought about the podcast content and decided that I would state my opinion and move on. I gathered up some sound bytes from influencers out there that shared my opinions. Fortunately, I saved those on social media and quickly learned how to extract the content I wanted. Before I realized it, I had spent nearly 4 hours putting together these sound bytes and hadn’t recorded anything of my own. So I embarked upon recording. Next thing I knew, it was 4am! I had started this whole process around 8pm. I was in deep! There was NO going back now. It was a Saturday night and I would sleep after I got it done. It was building up to be one of my longest episodes yet, just over an hour long. I began listening to it and trying to insert the sound bytes I had snipped from influencers.
Then, wouldn’t ya know it, an amateur mistake, or maybe just a tired mistake, I deleted the entire last half of my recording. NO! I hadn’t saved before I began editing…THAT was purely a tire mistake because as a techy I KNOW BETTER! So, not to be defeated, I painstakingly listented to what I had – then re-recorded the last bit. I saved it this time and began trying to insert the influencers. This process took me until about 6am! My youngest was leaving for work and I think they can be heard in the background yelling at the animals. LOL
I forced myself to listen again to the entire podcast. By 7am, I had managed to just forego the sound bytes of the influencers and put my recordings together and published. I figured that I was bored by the podcast and the only thing that could be sacrified was the influencers words. I was exhausted. It literally took me all night to put together that episode.
I tend to over think things. I think, ha ha, that I am probably over thinking the podcast. For nearly a year, I could think of things almost on the fly to say in a podast but now I am scrambling. Maybe I am worried about my listeners. Maybe I am just over thinking. Regardless…I think it will be fun to see where this goes.
I have joined a few groups to help me, I hope. I am also hoping to have access to an actual podcast ‘studio’ soon that will force me to get my shit together and get it done. I am entertaining interviewing guests and researching podcasts of similiar content for ideas and possible collaboration. I would like to be one of those who joins the podcast wave early, as it is really beginning to pick up momentum, and be a success story.
I appreciate all that have listened, 115 plays and approximately 10 subscribers. Not sure how accurate that is but it is impressive. THANK YOU ALL!!
Episode 7 is … in… the… works.
