APRIL 16, 2020 – It has been three days since my last blog post. I have noticed a spike in viewers and sadly, no comments or new followers. So maybe that is phantom viewers. Regardless, that is not the reason I didn’t post. I didn’t post anything because I have been pretty busy. More cleaning out the clutter and doing small projects around the house. The same old things really that bore most people.
I have also worked on my podcast! YEAH!! I have wanted to do one for a while. I have listened to a variety of podcasts over the last few years and I even started listening to podcasts about doing podcasts. I just never dedicated the time and since my beloved craft room was invaded with junk, I had no where to really setup for recording. Thankfully, the plus side of the “stay home, stay healthy” movement allowed me to clean the junk from the room AND gave me time to actually put into action the things I have learned listening to podcasts.
I’m not really sure my voice is perfect for podcasting, but then again, I have NEVER liked hearing myself talk. Lord knows I thought I would have a lot more to say than I have, but I’m still learning. I had to borrow a mic that I bought for the eldest a few years back and my headphones are a cheap pair of earbuds. My chair creeks, the coke can is bubbling beside my computer, the dog is snoring and the cat is jingling it’s collar in the hallway – all of that is picked up on the mic. It’s a damn good mic! The headphones are popping and cracking in my ear, ironically, they don’t do that when I’m listening with them plugged into the computer, only the mic. Maybe it’s the mic. Either way, my first OFFICIAL episode was about 18 minutes long and I recorded it TONIGHT! Just uploaded it!! Go give it a listen… please!!!
Anyway, the latest news about this COVID-19 shutdown seems to be suggesting that some of us may be returning to work in a few weeks, the first of May. Personally, I fear that my job won’t be one of those. Schools are closed for the remainder of the year and being as that is 99.9% of our customers, we will probably be riding the “stay home, stay healthy” horse for a little bit longer. MAYBE NOT! I wanna be wrong!
Tomorrow is Friday! It’s been cold here again this week. Not a lot of projects outside the house so I have been held up in the craft room where I emptied tubs of keepsakes. I managed to dwindle a lot of it down into a more organized chaos and filled up a trash can. I enjoyed going through the stuff I had kept. Even found stuff from my childhood. I keep a lot of stuff. This stuff tells the story of my life though. It was fun to share a lot of it with my kids. To see their faces when they realize that I was once a kid too is kinda priceless.
I kinda find it ironic that I was able to go through all of this stuff NOW of all times. On Monday, April 13, 2020 – my hometown was struck by a nasty EF3 tornado. I spent a good portion of the day texting with folks, checking in and getting updates. My lifetime friends are there and I have family there. It was great to hear they were all safe. I am still following the cleanup and wish I was there to offer a hand. If anyone wants to offer a hand to a devastated town, reach out to me, I have several resources that would love your help.
The last couple of days have flown by. Staying busy helps that. Tomorrow, I will have to venture out to do my weekly CorelDraw lesson – though I may wait until Sunday again to avoid any potential unnecessary social interaction.
Until the next post…please stay home, stay healthy!
