APRIL 8, 2020 – Another day behind us folks. Today, seemed to go by very fast. Spent the morning doing little things around the house. Got up at 9am sharp despite the after midnight bedtime. I had no plans for the day because the weather was iffy. Had been calling for rain for a few days and I had a feeling it would happen today. Wanted to clean the building out but with the rain threat – I wasn’t going to even start that task.
The oldest decided to venture out for body wash and razors….and a few grocery items. Being as none of us had been out it was news to hear that Kroger was ‘requiring’ masks and gloves and limited the number of guests inside. Of course, he didn’t have gloves or mask so he left. After a gas stop, he discovered that Wal-Mart was not being as strict so he went in and grabbed his goodies and returned home.
Let me stop here and just say something folks. I realize this virus is spreading. We are told sooooo many different things. Now it is apparently airborne when before it wasn’t. Who knows what to believe? Regardless, our household is made up of 4 individuals, 3 of which were last sick in 2016 with the flu. One recovered within days while the elders struggled for a week +/- a day. Either way, we are NOT prone to picking up germs. We have good immune systems and overall good health. I will say this. As a person who absolutely HATES any covering over face the idea of being required to dress up like Michael Jackson to go do simple shopping or even to work scares the shit out of me more than getting sick. Yeah, that’s right. I have a fear of being suffocated….I guess. I struggle wearing a full face motorcycle helmet. The only difference is the clear shade helps me somewhat and I am known to lift it up and down. It has been a fear since I was a child. I believe that if I am ‘required’ to wear face masks and/or gloves I will experience a panic attack. As stated previously, I am NOT the average person who sneezes/coughs without covering. I usually cover my mouth/face with the neckline of my t-shirt and/or jacket. It never gets through to my hands. Considering what I do for a living, we might be surprised to find out how many germs I have touched from China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan, just to name a few. From clothing to bags, I have had my hands on so many things made overseas over the last 7 1/2 years. Furthermore, wearing gloves is kinda pointless unless you are going to change them EVERY TIME you touch something. I mean let’s be real here folks. If you are shopping and touch the cart…the germs are on the cart, you squeeze the tomatoes or oranges, you have now passed those germs on. The gloves are useless! The masks… ok… well, that is perfect for so many people out there that just cannot seem to grasp what they were taught as a toddler – COVER YOUR MOUTH! Again, I have my t-shirt and it’s an automatic reaction for me to grab the neckline and cover.
Ok.. I’ll go back to the regularly scheduled day!
Got the call about my car around 4. Once the oldest returned from the necessity run, we rushed to pick up the car. The battery was replaced, under warranty, again. Supposedly. It was first replaced under warranty in October 2018 at 34K miles. Pretty much same problems then as now. Of course, they said that my ‘accessories’ were causing the problem. They were all disconnected, so this seems far fetched. Either way, it is back home, “new” battery (date stamp of 10/2019). We shall see how this goes.
The rain finally arrived around 6. It wasn’t as big a downpour as projected for us…though some reported hail. We sat on the porch and watched it rain. Then, the sun was out and everything was drying while youngest brushed the three huskies…covering our yard again in clouds of fur. Then, I grabbed a PB&J and sat on the porch for supper. Just as the sun began to set, I made my way inside and once again…blogged my day.
Been working on a possible podcast idea. Not sure if I will follow through with it. There’s a lot that goes into podcasting and once this quarantine life ends, I am sure I will be so consumed with life that I won’t have the time needed for it. Just something I have going on as we wait for the world to kick start again.
Stay home, stay healthy folks!!
