COVID-19 Lockdown Day 12

APRIL 7, 2020 – I actually had to go back and count the days. YES! These days are beginning to be a LOT like the Groundhog Day movie.

Not a lot of exciting stuff for us today.  I DID manage to actually get a DIY project COMPLETED!! I’m thrilled that ONE of my projects FINALLY worked out.  Sorry for all the bold and caps there….just needed the emphasis.  Anywhoooooo…. we have this patio furniture set we have had for about 20 years (maybe a year or two less).  The patio we bought it for was huge and it was used a lot.  Here, we have split the set up, with 4 chairs and table on back porch, which we never sit on and 2 chairs, stools and table on front porch, which we use rarely.  Well, we have been using it a LOT here as of late.  So, the stools had seen better days and the fabric was destroyed.  Sadly, I didn’t get to take a photo of the before, as hubby got eager and took it all apart for me.  He then dug out some canvas from the storage and I attempted to repair them.  Got one perfect the first time but one was just a bit sloppy. So I got up this morning and jumped on that first thing.  I knew I could fix it….and I did.  Turned out great!  We used them all day.

After that project, I found myself just sitting on the porch enjoying the peace and quiet.  I guess the neighborhood kids were inside doing their school work because it was really quiet until after lunch.  I would get up and down cleaning the sewing machine corner out in the garage.  I have an industrial sewing machine that occupies a corner of the garage.  That corner is often piled high in junk.  So, every time I use the machine I have to unpile things and then get it all back.  This time, I decided to go through the stuff and get rid of things.  I dunno if ya’ll have one, but we have this trash can in the corner that holds all sorts of “dowel” like things and it was a mess.  I moved everything, swept, discarded stuff and put it all back.  In the cleaning, I found a long lost emergency gas bottle and a trailer lock we had misplaced.  WOW!!  This staying home has become really helpful… now I’m ready to get back to work, this is too much for me to be doing every day!!

Last night, our youngest convinced hubby to climb in the attic and dig out our bikes.  Don’t ask me why we put them there…it was a dumb idea.  But, her tire was flat and needed a tube – which we cannot go get right now and she remembered those bikes up there.  They have been there for 13 years and we doubted they would be ride worthy, but as daddy’s always do for their kids (girls)…he got them down.  To our surprise, they were actually in almost new shape!  The tires seemed to be holding air too!  So we had let them sit overnight.  Today, I found myself helping oil, tighten and adjust the bike.  It got used a good bit off and on today and that was pretty cool.  Folks, we don’t throw anything away – obviously.  The 2 bikes were mine and hubby’s.  We used to ride a lot with the kids.  After moving to this home, we had no outdoor storage, the kids had 2 or 3 bikes each – their granny bought them a new one about yearly.  So ours were hoisted up in the attic.  Never forgotten but not really needed.  Ironically, until we bought those bikes, I had never had a NEW bike in my entire life.

So, around 3:30pm, I started making plans to take my car in for service.  The battery had been giving problems and was dead as can be a few days ago (after sitting for 5 days).  Luckily, service was open.  It was also close to oil change time so me and the youngest made the trip.  Dropped the car off and after stopping to feed the horse, headed home.  We had a nice quiet evening, stuffed our faces with pizza, so thankful for delivery!

Tomorrow, maybe I will get another section of the garage cleaned out and possibly the out building as well.  Of course, sitting on the porch and using those stools will be on the agenda.
