COVID-19 Lockdown Day 3

MARCH 29, 2020 – It is Sunday and as usual we try to tackle projects around the house.  After the usual chores around the house including the first of many vacuuming of husky hair, I make my way to the garage.  Today, hubby has some Jeep things to do so we get out to the garage just after lunch.  I summon the oldest to come out and help us organize a few things in the garage.  The overhead storage is a mess and many things were gotten down and never put back up.  So, he gets on the ladder while we hand him things and point.  Of course, it never goes smoothly.  I have a certain way I can visualize things and I want them that way and it causes some tension.  Of course, here lately, I have been in the mood to toss anything we have not used in years so the trash cans were filled.

One of our tasks was organizing the camping gear.  We have a LOT of camping gear and sadly we don’t have time to camp.  So, the stuff has been shuffled around and placed in all sorts of places.  My goal was to get it all together or closer than it was.  During the shuffle of junk I saw a pan above me used for a campfire.  I figured I would mention it later when we moved to that rack.  Of course, no one else noticed it and during the shuffle it was knocked off of it’s perch.  I was standing right below it!  I raised my hand instinctively and took a hard hit.  I was in a lot of pain.  Sick at my stomach pain.  I managed to regain my composure soon but with an already bruising hand.  I continued my pointing and guiding with an ice pack on the hand and stayed clear from any other potential falling items.

Once that was done, we turned our attention to the Jeep fabrication projects hubby had gotten supplies for the day before.  My hand was sore so I wasn’t able to do much, but I offered my support as he welded to fix and fabricate antenna mounts.

Remember I said we ALWAYS have projects to keep us busy!!  His broke a few weeks back and he got the idea to make one for the other Jeep and of course, I had a mount I needed as well for my car.  It was a Jeep day for us!  Those are good days for us when we cannot get out in them we tinker.

I had mentioned the desire to pressure wash the house and building.  Well, the wind was hindered that today.

We watched as MANY people walked around the neighborhood. Groups of kids playing basketball or riding bikes.  The very thing we have been ordered NOT to do.  I admit, me and the kids got out on Friday and walked with the dogs but we NEVER congregated with anyone and the only couple we saw made as much an effort to practice #socialdistancing as we did.

We put away our Jeep projects just in time for dinner.  Thankfully, we had steaks, baked potatoes and yeast rolls waiting for us thanks to Texas Roadhouse selling off their inventory as a pickup meal the day before.  Forgot to mention that was one of the errands hubby ran during his Instacart and car part errands.

We stayed home another day! I have not left since getting home on Thursday, March 26.
