Boy is that a headline that speaks volumes. What can’t you say about “society”? Good or bad. It’s a topic that opens up so many feelings and opinions, that this simple blog post won’t even begin to scratch the surface.
Specifically, I am a bit frustrated by a recent personal experience among society. While attending a club soccer game this weekend, I noticed several things that reminded me how much society just needs a reset!!
Days before arriving, we were ALL given a map and instructions on where to park (once we found the fields…it was a little tricky). Anyway…there was even a barricade, though very small, across an area we were NOT suppose to park. Yet, there we were…showing how society just can’t follow instructions…going around the barricade, just because they could, and parking in the area designated as NO PARKING. Why? Society please tell me why???!!! Of course, during the games, the league sent out notices to move cars immediately. Sadly, I heard so many people just refuse. Some mouthed but did it anyway. I get it, that parking was closer and exercise is probably not what society wants…heck, I didn’t like walking across that pasture either. However, folks, this is the things we do for our kids and we follow rules to be an example for our kids…and others.
On this same note, there was a kid that was clearly not being supervised nor cared about soccer, who was climbing all over equipment that belongs to the property/business that set up these fields. This kid is a good worker!!! He moved a pile of stuff from the equipment to a pile in the weeds about 10 feet away!!! Parents never said a word!!! It was old, rusty and no telling how dirty…yet, he occupied himself while essentially vandalizing property.
I wanted to speak up so….so….bad, but sadly these days it probably would have resulted in a verbal altercation or worse.
Society really does need a reset!!!
