Do Your Job.. or Someone Else Will…

I’m utterly amazed at the things I learn in my line of work. I work in a production environment that caters to education….all levels…as well as SOME businesses and individuals. My job is nothing special and really, a “well trained monkey” could probably do most of it.

That being said…I don’t care to lose my job to a monkey, so I do my absolute best. I take pride in my work. I try to do
what the customer wants. I may not care for a particular customer, but I do the work anyway. I often think, yes folks…I think, about options that might be better. I always remember that I’m working for people. It’s not brain surgery, rocket science or running a country; but, I remember that if I don’t do the job, someone else (maybe a monkey) can or will.

Now, as I started out, I’m utterly amazed at the things I learn in my line of work. One bad apple CAN ruin the bushel. If you are an administrator in education, you have a duty to the KIDS, NOT YOURSELF AND NOT YOUR FRIENDS. You have to put aside any personal feelings you have and think about the end result. The big picture. It’s acceptable to voice your personal experiences/feelings. In the grand scheme, you should be the adult and put aside your selfishness and bias to better serve the kids.

This particular instance hurts my feelings so much because ONE individual seems to have isolated and negatively impacted about half a district. One name uttered…and business is denied to kids. Why? Because bad news travels fast. Businesses do not associate with individuals that bring negative impact on them…even if it does mean kids suffer. Now, don’t get me wrong, we aren’t talking about taking food or vital needs from these kids….it’s accessories really…but, it builds an image. It builds a sense of pride. It shows support of business and those who live and pay taxes. Hard to imagine one person has that power…..
