So, where would yoube today if it weren’t for social media? Ya know, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, FaceTime, texting, Tumblr (yes, it’s still used), and of course blogging.
Like everything, there’s a silver lining to having it. After all, how would you get that inspirational quote to jump start the endless posts of each day. We are ALL guilty. We find something we like, we “like”, “favorite”, “retweet” or blast it via texts or email. Ever imagine the internet getting “clogged up”? I do. How else do we explain the slow speeds that consumers have grown to believe is due to hardware and can’t get that next cutting edge device fast enough only to be disappointed.
I admit, I’m attached to my beloved iPhone. There, I said it. I’m addicted to communications. Is there a support group for that? Well, it’s no surprise, you probably just Googled it…or can’t wait to.
I’m a communications junkie…happened after I turned on that first computer known as a TRS-80. I couldn’t stop myself. I took shorthand, typing, and computers in high school. Obtained a degree in information systems and am also a licensed amateur radio operator. So, I’m a little old school. Guess you could say, I would survive if today’s social media world as we know it was attacked by bugs .
I’m fortunate to have knowledge of what it was like before technology fit in devices so small they get lost in couch cushions. Before the buzzwords “social media”, I knew what it was like to hear a modem connecting…I would eagerly wait for that tone and yes, the words “You’ve got mail” was music to my ears.
Where would I be without social media. Probably filling journals upon journals with my constant thoughts about life. Spending time at my local library or accumulating books at my local bookstore. I might have a collection of QSL cards lining my state of the art ham shack that the neighbors find atrocious because of the wires and antennas. Heck, I might even own pens that work, write on sticky notes in shorthand, have nice handwriting and even be scraping together change to get a stamp to mail a letter. See, I think regardless of the medium used, I’m a communications junkie. I can’t help but find a way to present my thoughts.
Where would you be?
