Ok…so, this “wonderful” program called Edgenuity is suppose to “prepare students to work independently to prepare for college”? Ok. How can they do so if it’s controlled by staff who do not do THEIR job? My children were sent home with a letter over Christmas break indicating percentages expected in each class for Edgenuity. I admit, we didn’t look at it until after Christmas. Upon doing so…both kids jumped on, we looked at percentages and began correcting. One had blown the targets by triple in some classes; the other lacked about @+/-2% in one class. Attempting to correct that was impossible. The lessons were LOCKED!! They have remained locked even to this day!!!
Remember folks….we have since closed the grading period amidst the extra week out because of weather. That week, students were told to work on Edgenuity yet….they were locked. My husband and I both logged in daily about every hour waiting….kids will NOT do that and frankly why should parents???
Now…we have kids back in school attempting to pick up the pieces from an already screwed up use of a potentially beneficial “experiment” that has gone completely South…and grades are in FINALLY. Of course, no shock to us when we find out our child got an “N” for the class that was below target percentage. Why!?!? It is not the students’ fault it was locked!!!!! An “N” suggests NO WORK done…(yes folks we are talking about high school grades). How can you expect a student who gets punished for doing what they are suppose to do to push themselves to do better if they get knocked down for doing more than you did!!!!!????
I say it again….East Jessamine High needs to remove this experiment and quit punishing the kids!!!!!!!!!
