The purpose of edgenuity is for kids to be able to “work at their own pace”. After a semester of this, you would think the kinks would be worked out and I would not be bringing this to you. An EXAMPLE of how the use of this educational tool is being so underutilized in our school and kids are being punished.
Seen below, an email sent via the edgenuity app, asking for quizzes, a.k.a. assessments, to be unlocked for my student to continue. Notice dates, times etc.

Let me explain what you see: Student is working on Jan 7th (school is out because of weather); at 11:44am, after attempting a quiz first time out of 3 required, sends email asking for unlocking. At 7:27PM a response is sent, a simple, to the point – “OK”. NOW…by this time, said student is preparing for bed/school, already had a day of video games, chores and Lord knows what else. Do you REALLY think the student is going to benefit from this lesson taking a quiz the next day? What happened to working at ones OWN PACE!?!?!?!
I’ve taken online classes….yes, they had them in my day…and I NEVER, NEVER, NEVER had to wait more than a few minutes for a class to be ‘unlocked’ for me to continue.
