OK…this has GOT to be said…..
Ban guns?? Seriously?? Let me guess…because they are deadly weapons or they kill people??
Well, then add to that list of things to BAN:
* Baseball bats
* Forks – a 2 for one deal here – they make u fat too!
* Knives
* Hammers
* Vehicles – especially Dodge Ram trucks…after all they are for RAMMING things right!
* Crossbows
* Bows/Arrows
* Pots/Pans – they pack a punch deadly if used correctly
* BBGuns – remember, “you’ll put your eye out kid”
* Rope
* Swimming pools
* Martial Arts
* Chemistry – can’t teach kids how to mix deadly chemicals
* And while you are at it…cut everyone hands off ESPECIALLY OUR MILITARY
I realize the recent shooting in CT last week was senseless, cruel and unnecessary. As was Colorado, I am SICK and TIRED of folks, AMERICANS, screaming “ban guns”, “it’s the guns’ fault”, “politicians protect us”, “prayer works” etc etc etc.
Let’s analyze each of those statements….I pick the order:
- PRAYER WORKS – ok…that is up to interpretation. Praying in schools will NOT prevent tragedies. FORCING religion upon anyone only leads to more stress and reasons to rebel. Do NOT punish those who DO choose to pray publicly, including in schools. So many freely use God’s name in vain – I don’t hear folks screaming to “ban the use of God’s name in vain” or “ban those that curse” !! SERIOUSLY?? It even sounds as ignorant as those that think it! I stand by this, if you want to pray and use words like “God” “Jesus” or “Lord” don’t do it in vain, don’t force others and by all means do not judge others – last I checked, there is ONLY one that should judge us.
- POLITICIANS PROTECT US – YEAH riiiiight!!! Remember, most of these famous politicians are sitting high and mighty behind a few ‘protectors’ themselves. I refuse to turn my soapbox into a political platform…so DO NOT EVEN involve them in this any further.
- IT’S THE GUN’S FAULT/ BAN GUNS – heck with it…let’s just hit BOTH of these together – are you freaking kidding me??!!! SERIOUSLY my fellow Americans!! Our founding Father’s were willing to leave behind their families and step out into the unknown land put before them, with a weapon to defend and protect their family and land, to give you FREEDOM. We have service men and women today that STILL go out and defend this country for a bunch of unappreciative and lazy people – usually the same ones yelling these two phrases.
I am NOT a ‘gun nut’ – whatever the hell that is – none of the guns I’ve used have nuts. I’m an educated, strong, independent, opinionated, thoughtful, law abiding, outspoken and resourceful WOMAN who happens to know how to shoot a gun, bow and arrow and I even use a knife and fork properly.
We need to quit blaming ‘tools’ or ‘objects’. These are all things controlled by humans. Just like a computer cannot make a mistake nor do these objects of your hatred. A gun hits what you point it at, as does a bat, pan, car, hammer, screwdriver, rock, etc. It’s HOW you use it that results in whether it is considered deadly or not. All of these ‘massacres’ could have yielded the same results if there had been a vehicle driving through crowds in malls, schools or theaters – people would die. Would you be screaming at car manufacturers for making cars!!?
The answer – get off your lazy asses people. Notice your surroundings. Speak up if you see something or someone acting suspicious. Teach yourself and your kids the RIGHT way to use tools – even guns! Business owners – take something else besides people’s money – try responsibility … be willing to question your gut instinct when a buyer is looking at guns, rope, fertilizer, OTC meds, large knives etc – all things easily accessible to be used to harm others or themselves. TRUST YOUR GUT! TRUST NO ONE! Everyone is out for their own agenda and if you are NOT on your toes, you might be their agenda. Or someone you know. Quit hiding behind “ignorance”.
Since this all started because of GUNS – let’s figure out how to address that issue with kids. Be honest – take them out to a gun range. If you are not comfortable teaching them, look for an experienced person in your area. Do NOT think they are not curious. Too many games & TV shows glorify the use of guns – so make sure they see, touch and experience. The sound alone will be an experience they will never forget. If you have them in your home; hopefully, you have learned safety rules. Do not be afraid to ask and do not make your kids feel afraid to ask.
