My last posts were indeed a rare occasion, I cannot seem to get into a blog routine. Since then, I guess I drifted off and forgot to hit PUBLISH — not really, I forgot to type anything. Not that it has NOT been in my head…trust me. I am going to have to start recording my thoughts and find a translator….might be more likely to say more…bet there’s an app for that!
Picking up where I left off in the last post…a few topics that are just BEGGING for me to jump on the soapbox about….
1) Why is it okay to just “ignore” negative behavior versus “addressing” it head on?
We all know I am talking mostly about adults in society. Of course, as parents, we address bad behavior with a vengance – – three snaps in a Z formation!! But, as members of society, walking amongst the other parents – we do not take time to address each other. How can we expect our kids to believe that honesty, maturity and dedication makes a successful adult if they see other adults acting totally opposite? Face it folks! We are out numbered. Bad behavior will always get attention in the eyes of our younger generations and when they see it in large numbers, they will join the flock of rude, drama queens (and kings) – sorry, but we ALL know there are more Queens than Kings that fit this bill. Tell me you DO NOT want to just walk up to that mom in your social circle and insist she sit in “time out”? Or take away their iPhone? Or give them one good whack across the butt where the Good Lord padded them? I have said it before, a bean bag gun would work for me!
2) Is the truth really valuable anymore if we tend to believe those with faster tongues and taller tales?
I can simplify this with a simple “HELL NO”. Sorry. Being a honest person does not matter any more. I have been accused practically my entire life of “embellishing things”….now that IS true when I am locked in my craft room with all my fun toys…it is simply NOT the case in my day-to-day life. The days of taking someone’s word and it meaning something are G-O-N-E. I remember my daddy used to say, “If I give someone my word, they know I am good for it”. I have tried to operate that way and well, frankly, no one gives a flying pigs ass about my word. I do not have a fast tongue and I cannot think of tall tales —- well, with some time I can…but I am not able to just spit out a tale. I would be wasting brain cells anyway…because, I would forget the tale and have to invent a new one. It takes too much brain power to tell lies…because, you have to remember what you told and who you told it to. It is easier to just tell the truth. Heck, these days, no one gives a crap if it is true or not, they are going to turn it around to what they wanted to hear anyway.
3) Does
-
anyone
really believe in “treating others the way you want to be treated”?
Again, I am tempted to just say … HELL NO. It it is all about who can get themselves or their kid noticed first. It is not about working hard for something or helping others when they need it. It is about watching out for yourself.
3) Why does it seem the majority of people tend to believe rules do not apply to them?
Probably because of all of the above….
I try to follow rules. It seems when I make a conscious effort to break or bend a rule, I get bit in the ass…whilst I may have enough to keep letting it get bitten, I’d rather just follow the rules.
OK…so, I hit the highlights. our next session will be something more interesting and as always, remember…it is MY soapbox…if you don’t like what I am saying, find another site that makes you smile.
